About Me:: We moved to NC in 98 into my husbands 1833 family farm. Between the navy and gov. contract work I spent 20 years in electronics. While stationed in Va. Beach I got my degree from johnson and wales. I did some chef work when we first got here but felt my calling was here on the farm. I raise free range chickens, guinneas, turkeys and a goose. We have a good size garden which could be bigger if the market existed. We have a small vineyard and fig trees. Last year we got into the mushroom business. Not much product last year with the drought, but this year expect a good crop. We now have the spores to do more logs than we did last year. I have shiitaki, golden and blue oyster. My problem is finding a market for my product. I was quite excited when I found this site. I am also a member of the ALBA.

Favorite Foods:: shellfish,seedless watermelon,corn on the cob,eggs, mushrooms, pizza and a lot more .

Favorite Music:: rock and roll, blues, bluegrass and a lot of other things depending on my mood.

What would you like to see Slow Food Charlotte do?: keep letting people know where their food comes from, encourage shopping from local farms, teach people how to cook. Young people don't seen to either care or have time. I want to offer classes here if I can get any interest up.
