We get our milk from a dairy farm in York SC. They are not "certified" organic but the cows graze on pastures that have not been sprayed. They sell Grade A Raw Milk from old fashioned Jersey and Guernsey cows. Last months bacteria count was lower than pasteurized grocery store milk. Call Carolyn Adkins at 803 242 4743 she will be more than happy to tell you about her milk.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in forming a group to take turns visiting Happy Cow Creamery (www.happycowcreamery.com) in Pelzer, SC. They are a homestead creamery in South Carolina where the cows live on pasture 12 months a year and they pasteurize and bottle their milk right on the farm. Their milk is only $3.99 a gallon at the farm store and if you bring a cooler, they'll provide the ice to pack your milk for the journey home. I visited their store a couple of Fridays ago and they have several groups that visit in this manner from as far away as Florida.

I would be very interested! I wonder if they would consider a bi-weekly delivery to the Charlotte area if enough people were interested? I know there is a milk delivery to the Ft Mill area every other week from a farm in SC. This farm looks great! Thanks for the link!

I'm not sure if they would consider a delivery or not. When I went in April they mentioned that they have groups from this area that visit in the way I described already and it sounds like that's how most folks pick up their milk. A person visits once a month or so and picks up the milk for the entire group. Their milk has a 17 day code on it and if it's kept cold, they guarantee it for 5 days past that. Their milk is in some stores, Earthfare and some others, in the Greenville, SC area.
