Peek Inside

Hi everyone! I'm Andy Ciordia, Slow Food aficionado and general crazy guy.

I learned about Slow Food from Lell Trogdon and Thom Duncan over three years ago. We worked hard to build a custom infrastructure that took far too much time to manage so I built a Ning community here. I love supporting our local farmers and co-producers. Having everyone make connections, learn a story, engage in the dialog, and then further a cause that fights for good things lights my fire.

I've run a personal blog for years now called 'it's my island'. I can be found all over the net and am generally very reachable/available.

I left the corporate lights for my own gig with Nuance Labs. A company helping you get your small business online while staying highly productive with a product aptly named, Liquid Minded.

My wife, Robin, is a special needs teacher for Union County. She also helps me run IMI Photography. We work events, weddings, food & product photography; selling prints and stock of the perspectives we find along the way. You can see more of my work at Photoshelter or Flickr.

Slow Food Charlotte Online is Blooming

Sunflower, Day 3

Hi all, it's great to see we've had a great number of local sign-ups since the newsletter went out. May I be the first to welcome you to the site!

There are some great things we can do here to keep the conversation and thoughts going from when we meet at events or around the dinner table. If you have an idea for a good SFC sub-group, or would like to write more for the blogging side of… Continue

You Are What Your Animals Eat

You Are What Your Animals Eat by Jo Robinson

from: http://eatwild.com/articles/index.html

In my investigation into pasture-based farming, I’ve stumbled upon an alarming state of affairs: few animal scientists see any link between animal feed and human food. “Feed animals anything you want,” say the experts, “and it makes no difference to their meat, milk, or eggs.” Because of this mindset, our animals are being fed…

Andy, are you the one who tweeted looking for knitters? If so, contact me. There's a club in Matthews and although I don't knit, I know a few of those who do. If its for a good cause, I bet they would be interested

Andy, are there guidelines for posting events on this site? If possible, I'd like to post an event about an author we are bringing to town. Not related to SF necessarily but he's very popular with gardeners and those who haven't heard of him, should hear his message. I wasn't sure how strict this site was about staying on topic. Let me know. http://tix.cpcc.edu/featured-performances/Bringing_Nature_Home

Andy, we LOVED the truffles we got from you guys at the Matthews Farmers Market. Can you reuse the boxes? We saved ours just in case. Too pretty to throw it away and since the chocolates are in their own little cup, wondered if it could be recycled by you guys.

It was very nice meeting you, your wife and all the other members of Slow Food Charlotte last night.
I think that the event was wonderful and everybody was so nice!
Let me know if you can teach me a different way how to get in touch with a member other that leaving a comment on the comment wall. Thanks.
