Profile Information

About Me:
New to Charlotte, NC.

Beginning to form a new Farm to School Program in the community.

Grew up on a farm in northern Minnesota until the age of 15 years when I moved to California with my parents.

In California, I attended college at California State University, Long Beach and San Jose State University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Home Economics and Secondary Teaching Credential. Also have an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Program Administration.

I am divorced with two grown sons. My youngest son lives here in Charlotte with his wife and two little girls. My career background is banking, catering business owner, home economics teacher, child nutrition director.

I am presently "partially" retired, but, trying to start a farm to school program in the Charlotte area. I was active in the program in California and saw so many wonderful benefits for schoolchildren and their parents from the program that decided to start one here in this area. We will be starting our program at our first school site the middle of this month. We will have 60+ children participating so will be very open to volunteers willing to help with gardening as well as the classroom health and wellness, nutrition, healthy food preparation, physical fitness, farmer speakers and farm tours.
