For anyone heading to Ireland next month, the Burren Slow Food Festival 2011 should be on the list! A weekend of events- tastings, farmers' markets, music, cookery demonstrations, heritage walks and even a gala dinner to showcase, celebrate and to share the produce, culinary talents, cultural heritage and eats from County Clare (and all of Ireland). About Me:
Hello!! Fergal & I are members of Slow Food Clare (in Ireland), relocated to Charlotte, NC for a while, and are already missing our hens & Mr.Chuck... but we smuggled in local Clare honey, homemade jams and even elderflower champagne to remind us of our rural home and keep us connected to our friends & the land in Ireland.

In Ireland... We live in a pre-1840's stone cottage in West Clare and there are numerous outbuildings, stone walls and tall grass & reeds on the property. Our aspirations are to convert the stables into Elphene's Coffee Consultancy & Arts Management business, and to tame our front acre to prepare for polytunnels, wild flowers, planting & seating areas (in the coming years...no rush). We also hope to rebuild some old stone walls, paint farm machinery, restore our 'butter house' foundations and generally, give the attention & care to our lands that previous owners did. We are in our mid 30's, worked in Archaeology, so we have a wealth of local knowledge to share, are interested in local arts & crafts, farmers' markets, Fergal referees GAA matches, and we love to cook (and eat). We live about 5 miles from Kilrush Town which has all amenities & a wonderful Farmers' Market every Thursday from 9am-2pm. Favorite Foods:
Food, generally, would be our favourites. It is such an important part of people's everyday... food simply is a favourite. Even talking about food would be a favourite too!!

Hey you guys, great to hear from you again. The conflict is slightly misleading. Our calendar is open to the community to use so not everything on there is organized by Slow Food Charlotte. The farm to table dinner is put on by Ratcliffe on the Green. Wish I could go. Anyway, December 10th is Terra Madre day so we wanted to do something. If you can make it I'd love to meet you. Otherwise another time I am sure.

Welcome to Charlotte and Charlotte Slow Food, I love the pictures you posted and noted you live near Kilrush off the river Shannon, we have traveled through that area and enjoy all that Ireland is. We have stayed in Bunratty and LimeRick in the past and enjoy Clare.
We look forward to meeting you and having a chance to connect with our Slow Food Group at a gathering soon.
