- About Me:
- We moved to NC in 98 into my husbands 1833 family farm. Between the navy and gov. contract work I spent 20 years in electronics. While stationed in Va. Beach I got my degree from johnson and wales. I did some chef work when we first got here but felt my calling was here on the farm. I raise free range chickens, guinneas, turkeys and a goose. We have a good size garden which could be bigger if the market existed. We have a small vineyard and fig trees. Last year we got into the mushroom business. Not much product last year with the drought, but this year expect a good crop. We now have the spores to do more logs than we did last year. I have shiitaki, golden and blue oyster. My problem is finding a market for my product. I was quite excited when I found this site. I am also a member of the ALBA.

I, too, have just plugged into Slow Foods, and one of my suggestions was to work on/provide, dream up better advertising for organic guys. Your market is small because of poor info distribution and no city outlet. i.e OPEN. MARKET).
My wife and I would love to drive up from Charlotte on an afternoon, visit (f you have time) and buy some goodies.
