The Fall garden is looking good, and big plans are in the works for the coming year! The garden space will be expanded soon, and we will need everyone’s help on that day. Plans are still being finalized, but we will let you know as soon as we have a firm date. In the meantime, we know we will need about 2000 sq ft of cardboard (non-shiny, no color printing) for a kill-mulch, so everyone save your boxes!
On Friday Nov 21st we will be serving a fall soup to the 2nd graders and their families as part of the 2nd grade dinner. If you would like to volunteer to help with the soup making next week, or possibly with an activity that evening, please let us know!
Cary has also been working closely with the school nurse to start a staff nutrition program, and we will be working with the after school wellness clubs after the first of the year. Opportunities will be available to help lead tastings, do cooking demonstrations, provide recipes, and supervise kids in the garden, so stay tuned!
We have been trying to get to the school every Tuesday, but with all of the out of school days this month, our schedule has been a bit up in the air. We are planning to be at the school this week on Tuesday, Nov 18th from 12:30-2:30. Tentatively, we have scheduled a garden tour with a 1st grade class, and a salad mixing/tasting with a 3rd grade class. If you have registered as a volunteer with CMS, please feel free to come over during those times and help out! If you have not yet registered with CMS, go to www.cmsvolunteers.com
and get signed up!
Hope to see you at Shamrock soon!
