Hi Robin,
I found many great tools and information regarding starting a school garden or other student/growing food projects on the USDA Food and Nutrition Service website. This might be helpful as it includes things to think about when considering the menu (meeting the nutrition requirements), curriculum, working with the school, as well as considerations for the garden itself.
You can go to fns.usda.gov and type in "school garden" in the search box.
