Any current plans or were these plans rescheduled? Seemed like such a good idea but who would have known the economical changes would hit everyone so drastically. Maybe in 2010? M.

Hey Everyone,

The ball is rolling on plans for our CSA fundraiser in October. We're going to do a spectacular farm tour that ends with an informal fundraising meal at a farmers market near you!

I hope I'm not going to sound like I'm hyperventilating, but this is going to be the best farm tour ever. Anywhere. Hands down. No, really. So there--I've put down the gauntlet.

Rather than just having a bunch of people driving around and dropping in, we're working on getting buses and putting biofuels in them to reduce our carbon footprint. And having chefs at each farm to explain the connection between the food and the plate. And just generally being so well organized that everyone has a fantastic, rewarding experience.

I was originally voting to focus on one area each tour, but after speaking to Mary Roberts this weekend over a mushroom log or two, I'm convinced to vote for splitting the region into three or four areas. Each tour can originate and end at the market most central to its' region and focus on the farms in that area. We can link it to some event later that brings everyone from the tours together.

It's still early in the planning stages, so jump in with your opinions and offers to volunteer, sponsor or support us in anyway you see fit! I've got transportation, so I'm particularly interested in any ideas about a small fleet of buses we can rent for cheap. Like, say, nothing.

Cheers! Rich
