Hello! I would like to invite you all to attend the first annual Polk County Agri-Tour on Saturday, June 26 in and around Polk County, a couple of hours drive west of Charlotte. We hope to raise awareness about and to celebrate local food and other agricultural-related ventures in and around Polk County and also to raise funds for the Mill Spring Agricultural Development Center, a business incubator project for agricultural and related ventures in the western North Carolina region. The tour will go on from 9AM until 5PM that day. There will be a celebration farm-to-table dinner at Giardini Trattoria in Columbus at 7PM.
Participants will purchase $25 vehicle passes (all funds cover the cost of the tour and benefit the Mill Spring Agricultural Development Center), with which any number of people in that vehicle may visit the participating farms during each farm's specified hours. Passes will be sold before the event, as well as at each stop during the event (on the day of, the passes will cost $30). Farm tour participants are encouraged to bring a cooler and cash to make purchases that day, as well as to wear farm-appropriate clothing.
The farm tour will happen rain or shine, but individual host sites may use their discretion about weather.
Please find participating farmers and their profiles, on our website: http://www.polkcountyfarms.org.
The day will culminate in a celebration dinner at Giardini Trattoria in Columbus at 7PM, complete with drinks, locally-sourced dishes, live music.
