I met with someone today and they felt that instead of self-publishing my book I ought to at least talk with a few "real" publishers. Anybody know any local/regional publishers who would be interested in a healthy/easy gardening book?

Wish I could help Don but I've not found any. I've been told several times to just publish w/ ISBN, promote locally for placement and network your demo book up the food chain to the larger houses.
You've got a good book I'm betting and a self-published demo that you could pitch would go a long way.
