In the challenge to eat locally one major setback is the availability of local grains. Well, the folks at Anson Mills have solved this problem in an amazingly tasty and local way. Their revivalist farm outside of Columbia, SC, features ancient, antebellum and otherwise resurrected grains.

Unfortunately, there are no retail outlets here in Charlotte. WHAT! I know, crazy. I wonder if Talley's or someone could get these guys on the shelf.
