Mid-Scale Vermicomposting Workshop
Saturday, Jan. 16, 9:45 a.m. - 3 p.m.
At the incredible Friendship Trays Garden
Join Brian Rosa, Organic Recycling Specialist NC DENR, Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance (DPPEA) and get to know all things vermicompostable.
In the Friendship Trays Garden, Brian will give a composting and vermicomposting overview with specific emphasis on setting up a midscale system. He will help attendees set up a "worm wigwam" in the Friendship Trays garden to compost the 10 pounds of food scraps per day that come out of the Friendship Trays kitchen.
9:45, coffee - that would be HOT coffee.
10 a.m. overview
Noon - lunch provided by the Community Culinary School of Charlotte
Afternoon - setting up the “worm wigwam,” Q&A.
Cost: Bring a tub of red wigglers from your home compost. Think of it as worm college. You’ve raised these precious worms well. Now it’s time to send them off to be productive members of the community. If your separation anxiety is too great (or you don't have any worms at home yet), consider donating $20 to pay for one pound of composting worms or any other, more or less, wormy amount would be appreciated.
RSVP with the Slow Food Worm Meister Du Jour Henry Owen at firstname.lastname@example.org or 704-804-7574.
Invite a friend. Until you’ve squirmed you haven’t learned. Please be sure to register so we can accurately plan.
