Seeds - Sources, Starting, & Saving
Seeds connect us to the past and the future. Without good seeds from past harvests, there are no plants for our future survival.
Join Habitat and Wildlife Keepers, HAWK, on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, 7pm to hear Mary Roberts of Windcrest Farm talk about seed sources that help preserve the biodiversity of our world, how to ensure the seeds you plant have the best chance for harvests, and how to save seeds for the future.
The meeting will be at the Matthews Community Center at 100 McDowell Road, Matthews at 7pm. The meeting is free and open to everyone. For more information email HAWKNCWF@gmail.com or call 704 814 0877.
Mary Roberts is owner and manager of Windcrest Farm, a certified organic farm and greenhouse in Monroe, NC. After twenty years as a corporate instructor and project manager, Mary used her passion for growing plants organically into a business that supplies market farmers and home gardeners with over 250,000 heirloom vegetable, flower and herb plants each year. In addition to growing hard-to-find plant varieties, Mary also conducts on-farm classes to help beginning farmers and gardeners learn the principles and practices of sustainable agriculture.
