Contrary to what we were raised to believe, and witness, squash is not primarily made up of eggs and cheese or sugar and more sugar. Nor, in this case, is it a racquet sport; cause that would just be wrong to julienne your squash in a sweaty environment.
Squash is an early summer vegetable with an enthusiasm for expansion that rivals the big bang theory. It is rumored that the squash can magically grow from finger size to the approximate length and girth of a speed skaters thigh in the matter of twenty four hours.
You can fry it but you can’t deny it.
You can soufflé it but you can’t betray it.
You can bake it but you can’t fake it.
You can grill it but you can’t distill it.
What does this have to do with potlucking? Everything and nothing. Bring a dish, squash or otherwise, and bring your “it’s full on summer” attitude cause the time is right for potluck in the city. Rules you ask…?
You can’t say you’re sorry
and you should attempt to prepare food raised or grown around here… come on it’s high summer, never will it be easier that it is right now!
Bring your own beverage and a big ole smile.
