“FRESH” celebrates the farmers, innovators and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agricultural systems into an industrial model and we all have confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for the future of our food system and our planet.
FRESH” features urban farmer and activist, Will Allen, the recipient of The MacArthur Foundation’s 2008 Genius Award; sustainable farmer and entrepreneur Joel Salatin, made famous by Michael Pollan’s book, “The Omnivore’s Dilemma;” and supermarket owner David Ball, challenging our Wal-Mart dominated economy.
Following the movie, hear from Producer & Director, Sofia Joanes and participate in an audience Q&A to get answers to your questions about how the Charlotte area can continue working to become more environmentally friendly through healthy eating and drinking.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Ms. Joanes along with local experts on sustainability and “green” initiatives during a special director’s reception immediately following the post screening Q&A. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 and are available at http://www.carolinatix.org/default.asp?tix=59&objId=2310. You may also email email@example.com to purchase screening or patron’s tickets directly from our organization.
We hope you’ll join us to become better informed, inspired and actively engaged in creating a more vibrant community and planet for all of us!
