DESCRIPTION:The Charlotte Area Farm Tour takes place from 12:30 p.m. t
 o 5:30 p.m. both days and highlights 32 local farms. With the idea of 
 choosing local food products becoming a priority for many families, th
 e tour provides the opportunity to make those important farm-to-fork c
 onnections and discover sources for fresh, healthy food in the greater
  Charlotte community.\nÂ \nThe 2011 tour features a diversity of local
  sustainable, organic, and family farms, including fruit and vegetable
  growers, livestock producers, mushroom producers, a vineyard, and eve
 n ostrich and alpaca farms! Many farms will be offering fun childrenâ€
 ™s activities such as hay rides, petting zoos, pony rides, pumpkin pic
 king, a corn maze, and more! Farm fresh lunches and snacks will be ava
 ilable at many farms, and adults will enjoy live music and cooking dem
 onstrations at several farm stops.\nÂ \nThe Charlotte Area Farm Tour i
 s self-guided, and farms are located in clusters all around the Charlo
 tte region for easy touring. Fifteen farms will be open for touring on
  Saturday, September 17th, and an additional seventeen farms may be to
 ured on Sunday the 18th. To take the tour, guests may download a map a
 nd purchase a ticket online at www.KnowYourFarms.com. Load up the vehi
 cle with friends and family, pack a cooler in the trunk for farm-fresh
  goodies to take home, and then use the map to plot a course! Tickets 
 and maps are also available at these area locations: The Milky Way (Ch
 arlotte) and both locations of The Common Market (Charlotte) as well a
 s The Bradford Store (Huntersville), and three Ben & Jerryâ€™s locatio
 ns (Gastonia, Charlotte & Davidson). The tour cost is $25 in advance p
 er vehicle or cycle group. Entrance tickets may also be purchased on t
