Join us for our Charlotte-area kick-off for the 10% Local Challenge
Atherton Market at Atherton Mill
You may have read or heard about NC’s state-wide challenge to all North Carolinians to commit 10% of their food dollars to local food—this kick-off event is our way of getting the word out here in Charlotte about this great effort. The 10% challenge has been developed by the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) and is receiving implementation support from groups as varied as Compass Group to our own Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council endorses this challenge and encourages you to participate.
The 10% Challenge
Atherton Market is located in the old Trolley Barn space at 2104 South Boulevard. The kick-off event will feature a chef-educator demonstrating cooking techniques with some of the bounty of the market, food tastings, shopping tips, dietary and nutrition advice… and we’ll help you register for the 10% Challenge. You and your food dollars can make a difference. This is your chance to make those dollars count and put them to work here in our local food economy.
Tuesday, August 17th
from 11:30am – 1:00 pm
