Dear Friends of Slow Food Charlotte,

There’s a national membership drive ending on October 15.  Take a minute to consider what our chapter has done this year to reconnect people with their food. Take a minute and consider joining our ranks.  We’d love to have you at the table of good, clean, & fair food.  Join here.

Last year we:

Continued to support and grow Friendship Gardens; a Slow Food Charlotte & Friendship Trays collaboration. We now have over 60 gardens in our network growing food for meals on wheels recipients as well as schools, churches, communities, recovery centers, and backyard gardeners.  Read more here –

Funding and scheduling Slow Food Charlotte Farmers Fund workshops.  As a way to help farmers grow more nutritionally dense food, fight off disease and pest pressure, and increase soil fertility, Slow Food Charlotte schedules agronomy workshops for our farmers, either free of charge or reduced price.  Our next workshop is scheduled for January 25, 2013.  Have your farmer stay tuned for details.  Better yet attend CARVE, a pumpkin carving festival of fun to raise money for the Farmers Fund.  Find out more here –

We’ve had six potlucks so far in 2013.  They are always well attended, creative and delicious.  Join us we’d love to see you.

The 5th Annual Friendship Garden Party was this past September 28.  It’s always a carnival of food, fire, wine, and adventure for adults.  There’s always time to play in the garden.

Slow Food Charlotte created new flags for our farmers markets that are riddled with resellers.  These flags help you identify our real farmers amid a sea of posers.

Even after all of that you may be wondering: “so what’s in it for me?”

Maybe it’s connecting with other people at potlucks and discounts on events like our seasonal dinners for members only, like Duck Night, Coq au Vin Night, or Soft Shell Crab Night. Or maybe it’s the updates on what’s happening in our food chain and opportunities to get involved in making it better. All this and more are part of the benefits of Slow Food USA membership.

We hope you will join now to help us in the fight for good, clean, fair food for all.

We look forward to seeing you!
